Years of experience in industrial robot maintenance have allowed us to develop methods for the effective refurbishment and restoration of industrial robots and controllers.
The repair and refurbishment of an industrial robot is a complex, multi-stage process that nevertheless allows a broken or worn-out robot to be reintroduced into production. Some used industrial robots, after thorough refurbishment, can even be installed on new production lines.
A comprehensive robot overhaul consists of:
- removal or repair of process equipment
- replacement or repair of the complete wiring harness
- repairs and overhauls of worn-out electric motors: replacement of seals, bearings, and other necessary repairs
- replacement of worn or worn-out bearings
- replacement of damaged seals
- repair or replacement of gearboxes
- removal of all faults preventing movement and normal operation
- replacement of cooling system components and fans, cleaning of heat sinks
- complete disassembly of controller modules, cleaning of electronics, and functional testing
- refurbishment or replacement of electronics—motherboards, control computers, inverters
- replacement of the storage medium and installation of a fresh operating system with appropriate options
- restoration of factory system configuration and factory communication and safety connections
- thorough cleaning of the robot and controller
- in some cases, we remove the entire outer casing and re-coat and repaint the manipulator
Depending on the condition of the robot undergoing refurbishment, some of these steps may be omitted.
Even with a significant amount of work involved, it may still be worth performing the refurbishment, as the cost of purchasing a new industrial robot far exceeds the cost of the work performed and the replacement parts purchased.
